Collection: Sancai
A modern twist on an old tradition.
Sancai is a style of pottery from the Tang Dynasty (600-900 AD) of Imperialist China. Sancai translates into "three colors" and items were typically glazed in amber, green and blue on a white background. I have been fascinated with the combination of pottery made from molds (a fairly rigid process that produces identical items) and the modern, expressive application of drippy glazes
I use fluid glazes and an expressive application on all of my Sancai items and each planter is handformed, one of a kind and unique.
